Should you even apply?

Seven questions · about ninety seconds

This tool will sometimes tell you not to come here. That is the point of it.

Some families who take this get a verdict saying Prakriti is probably not their school — and the reasons are specific, not polite. We would rather lose an admission at question four than have a family discover the mismatch in year two, by which time a child has made friends. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent to us unless you choose to get in touch.

The seven questions, in full

Nothing here is hidden until you answer.

When your child brings home a piece of work, what do you look at first?
  • The mark, and where it sits against the class
  • What they were trying to do, and whether it worked
  • Whether the teacher's comments were fair
  • Honestly, whether it's neat and finished
Your eleven-year-old says they want to spend a term on one thing — birds, or bridges, or Bharatanatyam. What happens?
  • Wonderful — but not at the cost of the syllabus
  • We'd build the term around it and see where it goes
  • After school, if the marks hold up
  • I'd want to know what they'd miss
How much of school do you expect to be involved in?
  • As little as possible — that's what I'm paying for
  • Parent-teacher meetings and the annual day
  • Meetings, festivals, the odd bit of unlearning
  • I'd like to, but work makes it hard
By Grade 8, what do you want the school aiming at?
  • JEE or NEET foundation, seriously
  • A strong IGCSE, then keeping options open
  • Whatever they turn out to care about
  • Board topper material
Your child's class includes two learners with additional needs.
  • Good. That's part of what I want them to learn
  • Fine, as long as it doesn't slow the class
  • I'd rather the class were streamed by ability
  • I hadn't thought about it
What would make you say the school had failed your child?
  • They didn't get into a top university
  • They stopped being curious
  • They fell behind their cousins academically
  • They were unhappy for a year and nobody noticed
Last one. How do you feel about no uniform, no ranks, teachers called didi and bhaiya, and a farm day every week in the primary years?
  • That's the reason I'm on this page
  • Interesting, but I'd need to see it working
  • Sounds lovely, worries me a little
  • Frankly, it sounds unserious
Why a school would build this

A wrong-fit admission is a bad year for a child.

When the fit is wrong, the family and the school both find out slowly, and the child pays for it. This test tries to show you the school as it is, before you apply.

We cap classes at twenty-five and rely on word of mouth rather than advertising, so every seat matters to us. That makes honesty the sensible strategy. If you want ranks, streaming and early entrance coaching, there are very good schools in NCR that do those things well, and we will say so.
